If  you take cloth grocery bags to the store,
if you buy nuts (at the grocery or the hardware store) from the bulk bin rather
than throw away the plastic packaging that often weighs more than the nuts
you bought,
if it drives you crazy that styro-foam even exists...

...then you will appreciate that Carters Chocolates uses
natural and recycled
boxes
, and cellophane bags that are bio-degradable.

Yes, the pretty boxes that wrap other chocolates look quite fancy on the shelf,
and for the few moments that you are enjoying the candies, but they are less
attractive floating on Garbage Island, or filling up the local land fill.

We are sensitive to the needs of the environment, which is why we searched for
environmentally friendly options for packaging.  We found that there are new
compostable or
biodegradable plastics made from plants. We found ones that
meet our needs, and package our products in recycled boxes, and use only
biodegradable cellophane bags when necessary.

The newest boxes are 9
piece natural, sustainably harvested unbleached boxes
with a cellophane window so you can see the truffles inside ~ of course the
cellophane is plant based rather than petroleum.

Of course we use the best, greenest ingredients available.
Our main chocolate comes from Columbia, is not certified Organic due to
considerations of cost, but is grown organically and more importantly, the
efforts of the workers are compensated fairly.  In fact, we can say that we know
the sources of all the chocolate in our store (with the exception of the Belgian
White Chocolate), and that none are sourced from the countries that still use
the forced labor of stolen or purchased 10 year old boys.

Our
Tasting Menu chocolates come from a variety of sources, with a rotating
menu that currently includes Theo all organic, certified Fair Trade single origin
bars produced right here in Seattle; Amano chocolates made in Utah which
display the most depth of flavor of any chocolates I have tasted; plus a variety of
single bean chocolates and many more organic and single origin chocolates.

For an invitation to our next tasting, or to schedule a private tasting with your
group of 15-30, email: matt@carterschocolates.com
The tasting is a great experience, that provides basic chocolate knowledge
such as where chocolate originated, how and where chocolate is grown today,
how it is processed and what makes some chocolates worth quite a bit more
than others... all in a relaxing atmosphere that includes tastes of several
chocolates with very different flavor profiles, plus wine, truffles, and a good
time.

It is our pleasure to help keep the good heirloom flavor beans growing by
increasing awareness of the dangerous plight they are in, as the cheaper and
easier to grow lower quality beans continue to squeeze out the higher quality,
lower yielding beans for market share and farming sectors.

Satisfaction guaranteed.
Please note that our chocolates are handmade using the finest ingredients, with no preservatives.  When they leave our
shop they are in perfect condition, but chocolates are sensitive to high temperatures, and therefore we will not ship to
warm states in the summer without special arrangements and packaging, and only overnight orders will be accepted to
hot locations.

Please enjoy these fine chocolates within two weeks of delivery for best results.
